Author of Unmasking Autism and Laziness Does Not Exist, Dr. Devon Price will conduct an online workshop containing an hour of content introducing the core principles of neurodiversity, explaining what Autism is and is not from an intersectional, anti-racist, trans-affirming lens, and an outlining of best practices for building inclusion and attaining justice for neurodiverse people, followed by 30 minutes for questions/discussion. Workshop attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the neurodiversity model of mental illness and disability, and apply its frameworks to building a more supportive and adaptive workplace and educational environment.
  • Articulate some of the best practices for accommodating the needs of neurodiverse learners, staff, and faculty.
  • Understand how systemic ableism is linked to other injustices such as anti-Blackness, transphobia, sexism, and xenophobia -- and why adopting a neuro-accepting approach is integral to fighting such forms of oppression.
