As generative AI becomes more common, many instructors wrestle with identifying and preventing AI-generated content. Numerous AI-detection tools have emerged to assist with this pursuit, but do they actually work? This workshop explores the effectiveness and limitations of AI-detection tools, drawing on current research and real-world examples. We’ll discuss the ethical concerns of relying on these tools for academic integrity decisions and consider alternative approaches that promote transparency, trust, and improved learning.
