WILDERNESS BACKPACKING - Registration open October 6th-October 20th

Sam Houston National Forest, TX

Explore the Sam Houston National Forest as we backpack through the beautiful southeastern piney woods and camp along the longest footpath in Texas. Being one of only four national forests in the state, you are sure to enjoy a unique adventure!

Leaving Friday evening, we will drive together as a group about four hours southeast of Denton to Sam Houston National Forest. We’ll set up camp on Friday night and rest. On Saturday, we’ll backpack a section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail and camp again Saturday night along the trail. Sunday morning, we’ll hike out and return to UNT by Sunday evening.

Upon registering for this trip, you will be required to attend a mandatory pre-trip meeting on October 21^st  from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Here you will meet your trip leaders and fellow participants, receive more in-depth information about the trip and what to bring, and provide our staff with medical and emergency contact information.
