Authentic, inclusive assessments can increase student motivation, engagement, and overall success in the classroom (Addy et al., 2021; Campbell, 2022; O’Neill et al., 2021; Tai et al., 2022). They measure learning in ways that realistically reflect student career activities (Colthorpe et al., 2021). Authentic assessments are linked to positive attitudes, increased engagement, and intended learning outcomes (James & Cassidy, 2018; Jopp, 2020; Way et al., 2021). In this one-hour workshop, we will explore strategies for applying the eight critical elements of authentic assessment (Ashford-Rowe, 2014) to your classroom assessments.
