In this introductory workshop, participants will engage in self-reflection of their own attitudes toward diversity, equity, and inclusion and will explore practices for increasing our community’s commitments to inclusive excellence. Participants will examine how attitudes of defensiveness, blame, fear, openness, humility, and creativity hinder or foster equity and inclusion. Participants will identify their own personal values related to equity and inclusion and practice strategies for developing inclusive attitudes.

Objectives: By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Analyze attitudes that hinder equity and inclusion
  • Identify personal values related to building an inclusive community
  • Evaluate potential practices that can foster inclusive attitudes
