Celebrating Willie Nelson: A UNT Special Collections Exhibit featuring the artwork of Steve Brooks will be on display at the UNT CoLab from April 28 through May 27.
Brooks is an alumnus of the University of North Texas who found work in illustration and graphic design. He created art for t-shirts and posters for numerous musicians from the 1970s, including Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Leon Russell, and Elton John.
Steve Brooks worked extensively with Willie Nelson throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He created illustrations for t-shirts, posters, as well as original artwork, and concepts for the annual Willie Nelson birthday concerts, 4th of July Picnic events, Farm Aid, and Air Willie, with over 70 examples of his work included in this exhibit, which is part of a much larger portfolio, now housed in UNT Special Collections.
Brooks resides in the DFW metroplex and will be joining us for a very special, in-person gallery talk about his time working with Willie Nelson.
