The Book of Tobit is a part of the Septuagint, a Greek translation of pre-messianic Jewish scriptures, and it is honored as Sacred Scripture by the Catholic and Orthodox churches. Reminiscent of Tolkien in its style, it is a fantastic tale of adventure, faith and suffering, the power of prayer, and the very real intervention of God in our lives. Each week, we will read a chapter of the book together and consider how the tale fits into the broader landscape of salvific history.
