Directed By Marjorie Hayes
@ University Theatre — Radio, TV, Film and Performing Arts Building
Vincent in Brixton is based on the life of Vincent Van Gogh and the time he spent in London long before he became an artist. The play opens as Vincent arrives at the house of Mrs. Ursula Loyer, who runs a local school and boarding house. Vincent has seemingly fallen in love Mrs. Loyer's daughter Eugenie. Eugenie, however, has fallen in love with another lodger named Sam, who has his own dreams of being an artist. Vincent's feelings shift from Eugenie to her mother as he discovers that his own tormented soul has much more in common with Mrs. Loyer's. However it is that same tormented soul that keeps Vincent from expressing his love and leads him to what he is best known for…his artwork.
